- World-first reveal of the complete Tipo family, which adds the 5-door and Station Wagon to the 4-door sedan.
-
Also under the spotlight alongside its 1966 predecessor is the new 124
Spider, which went on pre-order two weeks ago in the major EMEA region
markets.
- New additions include the New 500S, the sportier version of the iconic Fiat city car.
- Updates to the family car line-up are also revealed with the 500L and 500X models.
- The Fiat Panda will share the stage with the exclusive "Kung Fu Panda" Show Car.
- First glimpse of a Show Car specifically designed for leisure and based on the Fullback pick-up.
- The stand represents the two functional and exciting worlds that characterise the Fiat brand.
Fiat has chosen Geneva as the stage on which to give the
international press a first glimpse of the complete Tipo family, winner
of the prestigious Autobest "Best Buy Car" award for 2016. The 4-door
sedan will be joined by the all-new 5-door and Station Wagon versions.
Further
novelties include the new 124 Spider, which is already on pre-order in
the main markets of the EMEA region, and a Show Car based on the
Fullback pick-up, which was designed for drivers who love spending their
free time in a dynamic and cool way. The 500 family will be out in
force with the New 500 in the new "S" trim level, the 500X SUV, which
continues to surge in popularity and sales volume, and the 500L, which
is the market leader in its segment. The cars have very diverse
vocations and characters but share the same common matrix: the iconic
500. There is even room for the traditionally stylish and comfortable
Panda, complete with a cameo from "Kung Fu Panda", a fun Show Car which
will be auctioned to benefit Conservation International and preserve the
habitat of the other Panda.

The most eagerly awaited moment of the year has arrived for Alfa Romeo: from April 15th , it will be possible to order the new Giulia in all markets throughout the EMEA area.
In
a world-wide preview, visitors to the Geneva International Motor Show
will have the opportunity to admire four versions of the new model,
representing the extensive range available, made of three trim levels
(Giulia, Super and Quadrifoglio) and six new engines: 150 and 180 HP
2.2-litre diesel with six speed manual or 8 speed automatic
transmission, 200 HP 2.0-litre 8 speed automatic transmission and 510
HP 2.9-litre V6 BiTurbo Petrol engine with 6 speed manual transmission.
Alfa Romeo Giulia
The new Giulia, with its
distinctively Italian design, features an impeccable sense of
proportion, simplicity and superior surface quality finish, enveloping
and placing the driver at the centre.
Choosing rear-wheel drive is
more than a simple tribute to the most authentic roots of the Alfa Romeo
legend: it is also a technical solution which secures high performance,
astounding fun and an exhilarating drive. A further particularity of
the Giulia is the optimal weight distribution across the two axles, the
sophisticated suspension system (Alfa Romeo patent) and the most direct
steering in the market segment. In addition, the Alfa Romeo Giulia
combines extraordinary engine performance and ample use of ultralight
materials, like carbon fibre, aluminium, aluminium composite and
plastic, to obtain the best weight-to-power ratio (less than 3 in the
Quadrifoglio version).
In keeping with Alfa Romeo traditions, the new
Giulia offers unique technical solutions that make it the benchmark for
its segment. The more sophisticated features include the Integrated
Brake System (IBS) to considerably reduce braking distance, and active
suspension for exceptional comfort. Exclusive to the Quadrifoglio
version, Torque Vectoring technology affords excellent torque
distribution between the two wheels on the rear axle, and the Active
Aero Splitter provides active high-speed downforce management.
Four versions are on display in Geneva: three Giulia Super versions
with 180 HP 2.2-litre diesel or 200 HP 2.0-litre petrol engines and one
Giulia Quadrifoglio with 510 HP 2.9-litre V6 BiTurbo Petrol engine.
Specifically, the Giulia Super versions feature high quality leather
interior with full-grain leather seats and dashboard, combined with a
real wood interior trim, as well as 18" wheels, 8.8" Connect 3D Nav
infotainment system and exclusive aluminium gearchange paddles fixed to
the steering column.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio on display in
Competition Red is available in a sporty configuration with 19"
ultralight wheels, carbon ceramic brakes and Sparco seats with carbon
fibre shell.
New Giulietta and New Mito
Alfa Romeo's news does not stop
with the eagerly-awaited Giulia; indeed, the brand has undergone a whole
makeover. The spotlights at the show will also be trained on the New
Giulietta and New Mito, the two restyled models which present a notable
family feeling with the enchanting Giulia, as can be seen in the new
nose that features an unprecedented grille and the legendary trefoil
nose, arguably one of the most famous and recognisable symbols in the
automotive world. The lettering of the names "Giulietta" and "Mito" also
nods to that of the "Giulia", with both cars sporting the refreshed
Alfa Romeo brand logo.
The ranges of the two new models were
conceived and optimised so customers can more simply and quickly pick
the version most suited to their inclinations and needs and then
customise it with optional equipment and accessories. The New Giulietta comes with a host of important innovations, such as the bolder sport characterisation, unprecedented
120 HP 1.6-litre JTDm turbo diesel engine, paired with the innovative
Alfa TCT automatic transmission, and the extremely useful LIVE services
on the Connect 6.5" system. On sale from early March across the main
European markets, the New Giulietta is displayed in Geneva in two
versions: the high-performance 240 HP Veloce 1750 Turbo petrol version
and the 120 HP Super 1.6-litre JTDm versions, both with TCT automatic
transmission. The exterior of the former is particularly eye-catching,
thanks to the new sports bumpers with red inserts, polished anthracite
finish, glass roof, Brembo braking system with red brake callipers and
new 18" burnished alloy wheels. The same sporty imprint has been given
to the interior, enhanced by sports seats in leather and Alcantara with
red stitching and leather steering wheel. Alongside the Giulietta Veloce
version, curious visitors will be able to get up close and personal
with the Super version featuring tobacco leather seats, new inset
dashboard with matt black brushed finish, 18" alloy wheels,
chrome-plated exterior trim and a new exhaust pipe.
In a worldwide
preview, the New Mito will be débuting in the Alfa Romeo stand, with a
host of restyled features, while maintaining its position as small sport
car capable of winning over customers attracted by its Italian style
and technical excellence, for utter driving satisfaction. The Geneva
International Motor Show will be centre stage for the sportier version
in the range - the 170 HP Veloce 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol version
and TCT automatic transmission - featuring new Sabelt sports seats with
black fabric and Alcantara upholstery. The New Mito will be available
across Italy and France from June, and thereafter in other countries.
4C Coupé and 4C Spider
The limelight will also be shared by the captivating Alfa Romeo 4C,
in Coupé and Spider versions, a modern icon of the brand and
representing the sports soul written into to the Alfa Romeo DNA: optimum
performance and excellent engineering designed for ultimate pleasure to
drive in breathtaking style.
Both cars are fitted with the powerful turbocharged all-aluminium direct injection engine with 1,750 cm
3
with dual continuous variable valve timing guaranteeing performance
levels comparable to those of a supercar: top speed of 258 km/h,
acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, 1.1 g lateral
acceleration and 1.25 g maximum braking deceleration.
The supercar
spirit is also obvious in the choice of ultralight materials used:
carbon fibre for the shell, aluminium for the front and rear chassis
framework and SMC (low-density compound) for the bodywork.
The Swiss
catwalk will see the likes of a 4C Spider in metallic Stromboli Grey,
featuring carbon fibre roll-bar cover as well as the new titanium
central dual-mode exhaust system by Akrapovič. In addition, to add a
splash of style and enhance light weight and performance levels, the car
features burnished finish spoked wheels (18"at the front and 19" at the
rear), as well as carbon fibre exterior components such as the air
intakes on the side and front bumper and the door mirrors. Last but not
least, the red brake callipers, the red leather sports seats and the
leather interiors with carbon fibre trim complete the standard equipment
of the convertible on show in Geneva.
The stand will also proudly
present the multi award-winning 4C Coupé with a three-coat Trofeo White
livery and featuring a roof and carbon fibre elements (such as the air
intakes on the side and front bumper, door mirrors and rear spoiler),
black brake callipers, titanium central dual-mode exhaust system by
Akrapovič and differentiated 5-hole wheels (18" at the front and 19" at
the rear) with burnished finish. Inside, the special sports seats in
leather and black microfiber with contrasting red stitching will
definitely be eye-catching, also in this case accompanied by leather
door panels and dashboard as well as carbon fibre details.
Stand
Alfa Romeo comes back to the
Geneva International Motor Show with a renovated display area featuring
unprecedented construction details and a sophisticated game of lights
that emphasise the major new product features. The Alfa Romeo stand
therefore has a striking appearance, backed by the classic red LED
backdrop on a black field, the brand's core styling strengths;
traditional glass walls, expressing the high-quality concept inherent in
Alfa Romeo's DNA; along with a sports-based texture for the floor, to
emphasise the legendary performance of Alfa cars.
The new Giulia is
to be the undisputed star of the show: the three Super versions are
housed on a platform outlined by red LED lights and, thanks to an
"augmented reality" station, visitors can find out more about the most
innovative technological features of the high-performance Giulia
Quadrifoglio. Set around the queen bee of the stand, the other models in
the range fan out, namely the New Giulietta, the New Mito, the 4C
Spider and the 4C Coupé. These extraordinary products confirm how, for
over one century, Alfa Romeo cars have been dedicated to those who
expect their car to transcend the concept of "useful means of transport"
and cross over to that of "real emotions".
An area of the stand is
dedicated to Mopar, the reference brand for services, Customer Care,
original parts and accessories for FCA brands. Specifically, the new
Alfa Romeo merchandise collection makes its début in Geneva, picking up
on the restyled logo in its graphic components. The collection features a
selection of items designed specifically with the Centro Stile Alfa
Romeo, first-class technical products made with high-performance
materials such as carbon, aluminium or Nycroteh. Specifically, the
collection comprises several lines: from clothing, the main garment
being a modular jacket made in rainproof softshell fabric, to leather
goods, including a Unisex overnight bag made with high-tech material and
leather with brushed metal finish, and even the line of accessories
with men's wallet and specific key rings. Last but not least, the
display wall by Mopar features certain accessories dedicated to the Alfa
Romeo 4C, Giulietta and Giulia models. In particular, the latter
vehicle can sport a carbon and Alcantara steering wheel while the mirror
caps and the heel pad are available in carbon.
Finally, thanks to
the informative leaflets and the special elements placed on the stand,
the audience will get a chance to become acquainted with the products of
FCA Bank, the financial company specialising in the automotive sector.
The company operates on the main European markets - in Switzerland
through FCA Capital Suisse SA - with a sole mission: supporting the
sales of all FCA brand vehicles through innovative financial products
and high added value services dedicated to dealer networks, private
clients and companies.

A range of exclusive accessories for Fiat, Jeep® and Alfa Romeo models
At the Motor Show in Geneva, the public will be able to admire a
range of accessories fitted on Fiat 500X, Fiat 500L, Fiat 124 Spider,
Jeep
® Renegade and Alfa Romeo New Giulietta: just a
small but significant sample of the many products, created for each
model, which harmoniously blend with the technical and stylistic
characteristics of the various cars, enabling them to be fully
customised.
One of the two Fiat 124 Spiders exhibited at Geneva
features exquisite details designed by Mopar which are reminiscent of
the vintage 124 Spider: from the boot rack with satin effect to the
premium silver wing mirrors, and brand new wheel rims based on a
historical design. Mopar has also created a specific line of accessories
for the 500X to make the new Fiat SUV even more distinctive. In Geneva,
visitors can admire a Lounge model, with Gelato White livery, equipped
with a practical working tablet holder which can be attached to the
front seat. The range of accessories designed by Mopar is complete with
the mats that sport the logo on a metal plate and the Fiat branded tyre
valves.
At the Fiat stand, there will also be a 500L equipped with
original Mopar accessories that emphasise the vehicle's practical,
family-orientated vocation: for example, the specially designed car seat
makes travelling with your children simple and safe and the Cargo Bay
Organizer makes the large loading space practical to manage. Instead,
the stylish pedal and chrome heel pad give the interior a sporty feel.
The focus will also be on the Jeep
®
Renegade Trailhawk - the ultimate off-road vehicle - on which shiny
black custom details, such as the sticker on the door, the front grille
and the wing mirrors, stand out. Overall, the vehicle has an extreme
off-road character, thanks to the large number of accessories available
in specific packs, enabling motorists to opt for a truly complete
customization.
Finally, on the Alfa Romeo stand, the public can
admire an example of New Giulietta fitting carbon mirror caps and, on
the wall, a selection of accessories specifically designed for the Alfa
Romeo 4C, Giulietta and Giulia models. In particular, the latter vehicle
can sport a carbon and Alcantara steering wheel while the mirror caps
and the heel pad are available in carbon.
High quality products in the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Abarth brand merchandising line
Visitors to the Geneva Motor Show can discover the new merchandising
line dedicated both to the Fiat New 500 and the new 124 Spider, and to
the Alfa Romeo and Abarth brands. The items featured have all been
designed and manufactured for FCA brand enthusiasts, and form part of an
exclusive collection that aims to be the expression and spokesperson of
a lifestyle capable of captivating the whole world.
In particular,
one of the stars of the show at the Fiat stand will be the line created
for the 124 Spider, designed to meet the requirements of those who adore
spending their free time as comfortably as possible, with more than a
touch of elegance and originality. The driver will appreciate the
two-tone leather gloves. In collaboration with the brand Italia
Independent, exclusive his and hers glasses evoking details of the
materials used in the vehicle or original graphics have also been
created.
Again, in the Mopar Store, set up inside the Fiat stand, the
brand new collection dedicated to the New 500, designed in
collaboration with the Centro Stile will be on display. The collection,
which meets the requirements of a young public always on the lookout for
new ideas and exclusive concepts, spans from trendy objects, such as
the sweatshirts with built-in earphones that allow the wearer to
comfortably listen to their music, to more fashionable products for
women, such as the bags in technical fabric, characterised by exclusive
patterns and the "power bank" which is useful for recharging your
smartphone everywhere.
Space will also be set aside for the new Alfa
Romeo collection, which centres around the brand logo with its renewed
graphic components. The exclusive line features a selection of
accessories designed specifically with the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo,
first class technical products made with high-performance materials such
as carbon, aluminium or Nycroteh. Designed with a demanding, dynamic
customer in mind, the Alfa Romeo collection features various lines: from
leather goods, such as the unisex briefcase made of technical fabric
and leather with brushed metal finishes, to the accessories line,
featuring men's wallets and specific key holders, and the clothing
range, including a convertible jacket made of waterproof softshell with
detachable windproof lining that can also be worn on its own.
Finally,
at Geneva, the Abarth brand will present its new line of merchandising
inspired by the iconic cases containing the transformation kits, which
have always been a symbol of development and performance. The
unpretentious collection, in pure Abarth style, is made of real pinewood
and presents an Office line and one dedicated to Home&Design
accessories. Additionally, the Mopar Store set up in the Abarth stand
will also host various collections created in collaboration with
prestigious brands, such as Breil and Kappa, and the collection
dedicated to the 695 Biposto. A selection of items inspired by Abarth
124 Spider, all made with top-end materials and full of quality details
typical of Italian design at its best, will also be shown in preview.

The UconnectTM LIVE system, the last frontier in infotainment
For a few months now, the extraordinary functions of the Uconnect
TM system
have come under the scope of the activities created by Mopar. In
particular, the last frontier in infotainment is presented in the form
of the Uconnect
TM LIVE services, a set of functions available
for use on three devices with 5", 6.5" and 7" touchscreens (the latter
being a brand new concept as it features a 7" HD display with "tablet
effect"). All three Uconnect
TM LIVE devices share common
elements: hands-free system with Bluetooth technology, voice recognition
and many music options, in addition to a FM/AM radio service. The
driver can connect their multimedia devices via USB or using the 3.5mm
auxiliary jack, or stream music from a compatible smartphone using
Bluetooth. The system is also equipped with an SMS reader for reading
text messages received on compatible telephones using 'text to speech'
technology. Instead, on request, a digital radio (DAB) and built-in 3D
TomTom navigation system can also be provided.
In the following months - exclusively for Uconnect
TM 7'' HD LIVE - "CarPlay and Android Auto
TM will become available.
Specifically,
Apple CarPlay allows the driver to use their iPhone more intuitively,
by integrating it perfectly with the display and the car's native
controls. Now users will be able to make calls, access their music, send
and receive messages, get directions optimized for traffic conditions,
and much more, while staying focused on the road.
Android Auto will
give the driver useful information organised in simple sheets that only
appear when necessary. This function gives access to: Google Maps with
voice-guided navigation system, traffic information in real time, lane
guidance; Google Play Music and many other music services; the ability
to make and receive calls and send messages while you keep your hands on
the wheel and your eyes on the road.
Android Auto and Google Play Music are registered trademarks of Google Inc.
The Uconnect
TM LIVE services - launched for the first time
on the Fiat 500X in April 2015 - are outstanding. They enable the
driver to view and monitor, via a touchscreen, a long series of
applications that have been redesigned and readapted for use while
driving, allowing them to remain concentrated on the road. Driver must
download the Uconnect
TM LIVE app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store on their smartphone.
Uconnect
TM
LIVE features three macro categories which contain the many
applications available: "Infotainment", "Navigation" and
"Saving&Efficiency". The first area provides direct access via
touchscreen to TuneIn, the application that offers users access to over
100,000 internet radio stations all over the world; to Deezer, a web
music service that offers access to more than 35 million tracks; to
Reuters, in order to stay constantly updated on the latest news from
around the world and to Facebook and Twitter, to remain constantly in
touch with your friends. Finally, where present, it can also be used to
access eco:Drive, the award-winning driving style app which enables
users to slash fuel consumption by up to 16% and contributes to reducing
CO
2 emissions by providing driving tips in real time.
The "Navigation" category, available in the vehicles equipped with Uconnect
TM 5'' Radio Nav LIVE and Uconnect
TM
6.5'' Radio Nav LIVE, offers the TomTom LIVE services with voice
commands, and high quality traffic information. Thanks to the experience
of TomTom in connected navigation, which includes the largest source of
traffic information in the world, with over 100 million kilometres of
traffic measurements collected every day, travelling on board a Jeep
Renegade is therefore more efficient and you can be sure to be
better-informed. Every two minutes, the navigation system is updated
with the most recent traffic conditions. With a highly developed
processing system, Uconnect
TM provides the fastest routes
and the most accurate arrival time estimates. Besides real time
information on traffic conditions, users are also provided with
information on permanent and mobile Speed Trap positions where
available, local TomTom Search&Go search services and real time
weather forecasts.
Finally, through the
"Saving&Efficiency"
category it is possible to directly access my:Car and, thanks to real
time warnings, receive reminders about maintenance procedures and gain
access to an interactive user manual, all features that allow drivers to
manage vehicle maintenance as efficiently as possible. When a
smartphone is connected via Bluetooth, the most important warnings are
automatically transferred onto the personal Uconnect
TM LIVE account, to make maintenance easier than ever.

- Abarth introduces 124 spider to the world
- The new 2016 racing events calendar
- The official Abarth community "The Scorpionship" opens
- A Mopar area dedicated to Abarth kits, merchandise and accessories on the stand
- Focus also on Abarth 695 Biposto Record and Abarth 595 Competizione
Abarth is making a comeback to
the international stage at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show with great news:
the debut of Abarth 124 spider. Heir of the roadster that drove Fiat to
its first European Rally Championship win in the 1970s, it is a fun,
unconventional car destined to become an icon of driving pleasure just
like its predecessor. Being a typical Abarth, the new 124 spider is
designed for thrills and performance and has all the qualities needed to
satisfy even the most difficult-to-please drivers:R rear-wheel drive,
sophisticated suspensions and a four-cylinder 1.4 MultiAir Turbo engine
with 170 HP under the bonnet available with a six-speed manual or
six-speed automatic Sequenziale Sportivo gearbox with paddle
shift. Its style and proportions also express dynamism at its best:
streamline silhouette, stretched bonnet, two seats near the rear axle to
really "feel" the road. The interior design also reflects the
painstaking performance-oriented care for which cars sporting the
Scorpion badge are famous while still being packed with safety and
comfort equipment.
Abarth 695 Biposto Record
Next to the new Spider, visitors will also discover Abarth 695
Biposto Record, the version created to celebrate the fiftieth
anniversary of two acceleration records - the quarter mile and 500 metre
records - set by Carlo Abarth at the Monza Race Track in 1965. It
features an exclusive "Modena Yellow" livery with "Tar Cold Grey" trim
and an enamelled "695 Record" badge on the side. Under the bonnet it has
a 1.4 T-jet engine, beefed up to 190 HP for genuine performance: it
clocks a top speed of 230 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 in 5.9-seconds.
This special series comes with many technical features directly taken
from racing cars, such as titanium rear light rollbar, 18" alloy wheels,
oversized Brembo braking system, Akrapovič exhaust, adjustable
hydraulic dampers and mechanical self-locking differential.
Abarth 595 Competizione
Focus will also be on Abarth 595 Competizione, a model that springs
from the experience acquired by Abarth engineers on the race track. It
is powered by a 1.4 T-Jet 180 HP Euro 6 engine with Garrett
turbo-charger and is available with a five-speed manual or an Abarth
sequential robotised. Gearbox. The 225 km/h performance car is showcased
on the stand sports a Full Black livery.
Racing
Races are a fundamental part of the Abarth DNA and the 2016 season
will be very busy one for the brand. Events will include the Abarth
Trophy, with Abarth 500 Assetto Corse and Abarth 695 Assetto Corse
Evoluzione as the stars of the show, and the Formula 4 championships in
Italy and Germany. Furthermore, this year sees the introduction of the
Abarth Cup Classics in which the vintage models will be competing for
the first time. .
Digital

Germany, Switzerland and France and will be activated across Europe
starting from May. "The Scorpionship" members will have access to plenty
of exciting advantages, promotions and racing opportunities as well as
exclusive invites to meetings for fans.
Stand
The details of the Abarth stand in Geneva are reminiscent of the
Officine Abarth, made of iron girders, rough concrete and metal floor
plates polished by car tyres. For the public, it will be like visiting
the real workshop of a mechanic who is working with skilfully dedication
on an engine. It is Carlo Abarth's heritage, one of hand-crafted care
applied to constant technical progress and performance. Today, Officine
Abarth is a place rich in history and is projected far, far into the
future: it is the ideal setting for the launch of the new Abarth 124
spider.

- The world première in Geneva for the prototype developed by the Abarth Racing Team.
- Under the bonnet a powerful 1800 direct injection turbo engine delivering 300 HP.
- Rear-wheel drive with self-locking differential for second to none performance.

"Left 4 cut, 30 caution jump, right 5 left 3 close, 100, right 2 don't cut..."
This is the route to challenge yourself, to beat the laws of physics, to write a story made of courage and passion....
Along with the Abarth 124 spider, the first prototype of the 124
rally also has a surprise début. For the first time, the road car and
the racing car have been developed and unveiled together.
The new Abarth 124 rally is a combination of pure technology and
performance born from the experience of the Abarth Racing Team to bring
back the Scorpion to the most glorious and demanding rally tracks, from
the sticky sunburnt tarmac to the more slippery ice surfaces.
Forty
years after its last official race, the 1976 Monte Carlo Rally, the
Abarth 124 Rally is back with the same mission: to test road cars'
technical solutions under extreme conditions and to guarantee all Abarth
customers excellent performance and maximum reliability.
It is dedicated to all those who share the brand's sense of challenge and racing world values.

mappings, it provides power up to 300 HP at 6500 rpm and optimum torque
curve, a key element to allow the driver steering and acceleration
balance while oversteering. Performance is breath-taking; acceleration
is scorching and marked with full, riveting sound. The project was
developed to ensure reliability and performance, even in the extreme
conditions typical of rallies: ice, dirt, dust, water, heat.
Even the
transmission was designed to enhance performance: the engine is coupled
to a quick 6-speed sequential gearbox with shift paddles and traction
is assured by the mechanical limited slip differential.
Racing, for Abarth, is not only adrenaline, but also testing grounds
to experiment with solutions that guarantee performance and excitement.
To enhance the 124 rally's competitiveness, the Abarth Racing Team's
engineers have worked with precise objectives: first of all, weight
reduction and overall balance. For this reason, the engine is mounted
behind the front axle; for the cockpit and the engine compartment,
light, resistant materials were used, while the soft top was replaced by
a fixed composite hard top. With these features, weight distribution
leans slightly towards the rear axle, ensuring maximum traction even in
low grip conditions. The centre of gravity was further lowered as
compared to the road car to the advantage of road grip and
straightforward performance.
The new Abarth 124 spider was born light and agile, and the rally
edition was further refined to star in competitions. Homologation in the
FIA R-GT category has required structural reinforcements to guarantee
even greater stress resistance and the highest safety standards for the
crew, and the body now has a safety roll cage. The whole design has been
engineered for maximum efficiency and ergonomics, to ensure driver and
co-driver not only superior performance, but also attention to every
minute detail, such as the arrangement of interior controls and
available space in the cockpit.
Rally cars undergo extreme stress; this is why the superb mechanical
layout of the standard production car has been further developed: the
high front-end double wishbone suspension and multi-link rear suspension
have specific kinematic features with metal joints for maximum steering
precision, ample control on corners, greater excursion for handling
different road surfaces and adjustable dampers settings guarantee always
superior grip in every situation.
In conclusion the project code, SE139, has a great deal of history
that goes back directly to Karl Abarth. The SE stands for "Sports" and
"Esperimental", a direct link to the Abarth values of craftsmanship and
Technical Upgrade. While the 139 progressive number exemplifies that in
67 years of history, Abarth has managed to develop an average of two
racing projects per year. A great accomplishment that only a few other
car manufactures can be proud of.
A great team to bring back Abarth on the rally stage
Team Abarth has worked very hard to select best in class technical partners and sponsors.
Among
these, Petronas Selenia that has always been at the forefront in
developing technologically advanced and high performance lubricants and
it has contributed in the engine development. While Adler Pelzer Group
was greatly involved in making crafting composite components for the car
and Michelin is the technical partner for tires development.
The
Abarth 124 rally project is also a great showcase for a number of
Italian companies which have been involved in racing for many years. As
is the case for Sabelt, one of the most well-known brand in motorsport,
which contributes with its bucket-seats, seatbelts and other safety
equipment, and also for Kappa, the leading sportswear brand worn by the
entire "Abarth Squadra Corse". For what concerns the mechanics of the
car, LM Gianetti, a company born some 40 years ago and witnessed the
development of the first Abarth 124 Rally, has closely worked with
Abarth's Technical Team to reengineer completely the bodywork and the
suspensions scheme. Whilst, EXT SHOX has contributed with its specific
know-how in the development of 4-way adjustable dampers used for the
first time in a Rally car.
BMC has supported the team in developing
the air-intake system of the car, which it is crucial to allow constant
and reliable engine performance. The lightweight, but at the same time
robust racing wheels, have been developed and crafted by OZ, the legend
in motorsport.
In conclusion, as for the road-going model,
Alcantara® has completely revamped the interior of the car starting from
the dashboard to the seats trimming, with 100% "Made in Italy"
technology contributing to saving weight and reduce sun reflections
towards the interior of the car, allowing no interferences for the
driver enhancing the driver grip on the steering wheel.
The team has worked with great passion to revamp a rally icon as the
Abarth 124 rally, a rear wheel drive transmission is synonym of great
fun for the drivers, but also for the public. Surely, people will queue
up to see pass by the new 124 Abarth rally and see it powerslide, which
have become very rare today.
The new 124 rally developed with the
best of technology available today, contributes to bring back sweet
memories from the past of rallying in the 70's were competitions were
more engaging and gathering massive crowds.
After the Geneva MotorShow unveiling, Abarth opens the pre-booking phase to prepare your début in the 2017 rally season.
